Default O Man Outa gas

On the back road to Axtell and the gas light comes on. No problem I'll stop a the next little village and fill up. Right, no gas stations in the little towns. Finaly find a station, regular only. No darn key!!![:'(] OK; try to get to Jim's cycle on 31 so I can buy a gas key. Almost made it ran out at the stop sign on 31 , two miles from Jim's. Parked, hitched in. Great people there, loaned me a key and a gas can with gas!!.
Lesson learned - I carry a spare gas key now in the glove box[8D].

Any coke machine style key will open the gas cover.....

Better yet, get yourself one of those pushbutton replacements!

Just installed this push button. Works and looks great I think. $25 on Ebay.

I looked for a coke machine but they only had cooler.
Ifound a key leftover from my Ultra Glide. It will remind me how happy I am switching to the RG. Would have been better it I had just traded in stead of getting it totaled (Ha)

2 screws and one big nut. You change a small clip inside the fuel door so that it springs open when you push the button. Then you intall the push button with a large nut. Took me 5 minutes.

There are a couple choices I found on Ebay. One is the smooth button like mine and the other is a lockable version that is also a push button so you can use a key if you want. I chose the smooth button because I'm not worried about someone stealing my gas.

Here is the one I bought. It's a Harley part: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/HARLE...QQcmdZViewItem

I HATE having to dig for my key everytime I stop for gas.

This is the lockable one:

I second the push button. One of the best things I did.
