wife thinking of getting bike

RE: wife thinking of getting bike
My wife and I went through this same thing this past year. She is now riding her 2007 Sportster 1200L. I have extensive posting on this andyou may want to search under my sig.
It can be done to both ofyour satisfaction and delight. I have a 2007 Honda Rebel for sale with less than 400 miles on it. She like her Sportster and it has 1200 miles on it. PM me if you like and I will tell you her story. Even after running through the 6 foot chain link fence she is enjoying riding. I still worry about her back there but it is getting better.

I say let her give it a try...My wife rode on the back with me for 15 years before she started the "I want my own bike thing". I was pretty skeptical but she took the Rider's Edge Course, got her license andwebought her a Sportster. Three months into it I watched her lay it down when an A**hole in a Tahoe made a left turn in front of her. My heart absolutely stopped and I felt incredibly helpless because I couldn't protect her, all I could do was watch it happen. It banged her up pretty good. I figured thats the end of that. To my suprise she was back on it as soon as she was healed up and never looked back. 4 months later she had outgrown the Sportsterand wetraded it in onan 07 Heritage Softail Classic (had to keep her off my Ultra somehow). She really loves to ride the Heritage. We ride alot together and it has added another positive common bond to our relationship. Our average "joyride" on a Sunday is 250 miles or so.In August we made Sturgis. I thought I would miss having her on the back but I really don't although I still get alittle nervous because there are plenty of idiots in cages out there. She is my wife, mybest friend, my lover and my riding buddy. It just doesn't get much better than that!!

Once you get her off your bike and on her own you will be saying.... why did we take so long to do this.

If she has it in her, there's nothing you can do about it but help her learn to ride safe. Support her all the way!
Taught my wife on a sportster 20 yrs ago, she never really wanted to be anymore than 2 up though at that time. This past spring I put her on my RKC in a local school parking lot and she road around for a good while getting used to the weight. Now she wants to go through the MSF course and start ridin on her own next to me. I'll support her 100%. Life's too short not to live it!
So it's school for her in the spring and a streetbob in the summer.
Besides, I think chicks that ride are hot as hell!!
EZ
