Default true duals or not ?

I am thinking of installing vance hines dresser duals to go
along with my vh ovals. I already have the race tuner installed.
The only reason i'm thinking of doing this is i want louder pipes.
Do they increase the volume? How much? Do they change the tone?
I'm on a limited budget, please help me spend my money well.

thanks for all your reponses

scott

yes they are louder I think they sound good, they are less volume than stock, no crossover this is why they are louder. I say if you want less heat on your legs and more noise this is what you are after.

You wont be disappointed, Duals sound and look awsome. They will make your bike louder. In my opinion run alot better than stock head pipes. now prepare your self for all the 2-1 guys to go buy d-d fat cat.

Your bike will likely suffer a small loss of performance on the bottom end. I certainly know that mine did compared to the stock head pipes using the same mufflers. I made some lollipop baffles and had to add a DFO to compensate for the bottom end loss.

You won't get anymore power out of duals or slip ons. But the TD's will be a little louder.

Thanks for the responses. The pipes, dyno, labor is going to
run about 650 bucks, i don't want to spend that if its
just a little louder. Please give me some sense of how
much louder it will be.

thanks

scott

Using the same mufflers it will be just a bit louder.

I think you are spending too much at $650.00. You can get the pipes shipped from various vendors for right at $300.00. Bolting them on is an easy job. Do it yourself. Then, retune if necessary.

judging by your concerns, they won't be loud enough for you. Change the pipes, the Vance and Hines have a nice deep sound, much nicer than stock (IMHO) but they've never been considered overly loud. You need to switch to Rineharts or Bassini...............or punch one huge hole in the Vance and Hines

Sound also gets better with age. It sounds so much different and better after about 1000 miles.
