RE: ids and my great 2007 sg--a question
harris48cars,
I fully understood your post and your concerns....(AmI the only one?)
You are correct to believe there should be little or no vibration in your new 08....You can also believe the IDS is dampening much of what you DON'T feel, so yeah have them checkthe bikeout cause something ain't right.
For those here citing higher revs, I can see where it's possible many folks new to Harleys might tend to lug the engine.....I myself stepped off super bikes and onto my first Harley just last month.....I finally learned to drive my sporty like I was mad at it and it then smoothed out and attempts to buck me off constantly....I love it!
Just two weeks after buying the Sporty and afterlearning to ride it properly(revved), I bought the Road King and treat her the same way......
RULE #1: IDS or no IDS, never lug a Harley. Big twin or 1200 Sporty, never lug a Harley!
I ain't saying you do lug your engine, but second check yourself and see if those nasty vibs go away when she is higher in the power band.
BTW gents......I recently installed the PCIII on my stock RKC with IDS altready installed.......The PCIII made a silky bike even slicker....It's like snot on a doorknob now!.....Turned out my factory stock fuel map and closed loop configurationwas causing all kinds of bad behavior.

ffb, you really don't need IDS and you shouldn't do it.
You're much too good a rider, much more knowledgeable and much more informed than all the rest of us.
Don't do it, it's a big waste of your time and money. Besides, you being such a great rider and all, no need.
