HD Liquid-cooled touring bikes 09 or 10

RE: HD Liquid-cooled touring bikes 09 or 10
Heat is Heat! Whether it comes off the fins or a radiator it will end up on the rider(s) under some condition. Water cooled may help in the performance and emissions, but the trade off is packaging, weight and appearance. I think the ar cooled motor is more in suit to the cruiser vision, including touring. Leave the water cooled to the high performance guys.

While I don't doubt that Harley will continue to offer more liquid cooled models, I think the guy who wrote that should spend some time on liquid cooled bikes to see if the heat issue magically dissapears. Ride a Triumph Sprint, Yamaha FJR, Honda ST1300 etc. on a 90-degree day and you'll notice that you are done to a nice medium-well in no time at all. The exhaust pipe on my Sprint literally burned my ankle (blisters and all) through heavy leather boots. You're sitting on an engine. Don't care how you cool it, they get hot.

Just received the Fall issue of HD's Enthusiast mag.. As we are all aware this is published by HD & every word, article & comment is carefully reviewed by HD prior to it being released. As such please note an email that appears on page 8.
"Instead of using V-Rod engine technology to create a liquid-cooled 100hp Touring model, the Motor Company increased the cubic displacement of its air-cooled engine. All this "beat the heat" advise would not be necessary if the new models were fitted with Revolution engines. My Harley-riding friends and I hope the Company will wake up and finally realize that oversized air-cooled motorcycle engines are ready for museums and move into the 21st century with liquid-cooling"
I honestly believe NO ONE at HD would have permited this email to appear in THEIR mag. withoutknowing that this is what they are doing at this very time. I'm now going to wait on buying a new bike as a HD liquid-cooled touring bike is the future from a performance, comfort, and EPA standpoint. I'm excited & looking forward to it.
(This hint from HD was just to bold to miss)

I hope to keep my 07 SG for a long, long time and maybe pass it on one day to someone. It is the only bike I have ever bought new in 38 years of riding. If and when they come out with a better water cooled version I may buy one of those also, but not trade in. This is clearly the finest bike I have ever owned. A better bike will still not ever take away from the beauty of this one.
