I have been reading about a number of after market speakers and wonder if someone knowledgeable can address the question of rain. Do not speakers have to be waterproof?

"Have" to be? No, they don't. SHOULD they be? Of course! But ta some folks (and vendors), that li'l detail would add too much $$$ to the price...

 

UNIQ CYCLE Sounds has some good ones been running them for 2 yrs. now and yes waterproof.

 

Infinity builds some 4ohm speakers for boats that are WATER RESISTANT that are working very well in my 08 SG. I bought mine at Fry's for I beleive 89.00. The top end is VERY clear. I also installed an electronic antenna which is ok but my coverage is less than with the wip antenna. I've talked with several people about thier elect ant's and none are happy with coverage.

 

I just assumed the stock speakers on my 08 SG were waterproof. Aren't they? It doesn't seem logical that they wouldn't be. It does seem logical that water would ruin them.

Hey, HD might be on to something here. If water ruins them (not sure how you could tell, the stock ones don't sound so great anyway), you can order more from the dealer [sm=badidea.gif]

If you want better sound, do research and buy better speakers that are meant for bikes or boats.

 

Good point. I'm pretty sure they are wp but who knows. They suck anyways as far as the sound is concerned.....

 

Check out J&M Corp. they make a great speaker,it's waterproof sounds great and fits in place of OEM speakers and also has a Black plastic grill with built in tweeter. The cost is $109 includes shipping.

 

Here. Put em in my 07 EG after scrapping the stocks for J&M and then scrapping the J&Ms for these. Cheaper and better. And yes they're waterproof.
