As far as Waterproof and Water Resistant goes, they are virtually one and the same. I have sprayed both my J&M and JBL speakers through the fairing in the car wash (hi pressure) at least 20x since I installed them and not a single harmonic issue with either as a direct result of water. Spray the rear carrier with enough water and you'll likely kill any waterproof claims from any manufacturer. Water willfinda way in around the rear coil where ferous materials and porous surfaces exist, but as far as speaker technologies go, any Polycarbonate, Graphite, Kevlar, Aluminum, Titanium, Ceramic speakercone is waterproof/ water resistant from the coating process they go through today. The ways of the old paper speakers are long gone when it comes to modern technology. This is why somecompanies will hook one up to a couple speaker leads, spray thefront with water, and make claim to being "waterproof" (it's all marketing & gimmicks). The honest ones will say to keep them away from direct water just to avoid claims from the redneck that goes and submerses one before making a waranty claim. Just spray the rear of the speaker while it's playing and you'll likely see another result.Having a rubber surround will further impregnate the cone aganst water damage from the front and that pretty much sums it all up for H2o qualities in speakers.
As for qualities and sound versus what each person hears, everyone has an opinion and that's what makes us all unique. Maybe next time, you should lighten up and allow a person the right to their opinion. After all, he's bought both, and he is entitled to his informed opinion in this "public forum".You seem to take to the speaker threads but I have not actually seen anything intelligent from you on the subject so what gives with you?Perhaps you really are ignorant to the whole subject and this is why you act as you do.Perhapsyou should go back tothe post ABC's of speakers and re-read itagain so you pick upmore of the useful information within that post. You might just learn something you failed to understand the first time. You mustof been anAspencade rider somewhere in your past.

Wahl Glideman, it's like this - go back an' reread what ah've posted as well - because one thing ah have no issue with is someone who honestly says "I prefer X over Y" fer a personal reason, or 'cuz they're a cool color. It's when they take any opportunity to slam someone - particularly a sponsor - that yeah, ah git mah dander up. If you'll look, ah've told others that ah've never had the Hogtunes, but have heard others say they were quite pleased with 'em. Guess a lot of it has to do with the 'tude, eh?

Check out J&M Corp. they make a great speaker,it's waterproof sounds great and fits in place of OEM speakers and also has a Black plastic grill with built in tweeter. The cost is $109 includes shipping.

I was a car Audio Installer for a large electronics chain, we did alot of boats and bikes, the best advice I can give you is go in search of a speaker with a polypropelyn cone and rubber surounds (pretty much all speakers of any value have both) stay away from paper cones. Pick the ones that sound best to you. If you want to email me I can point you towards some good sounding speakers (I don't know if I can spout off brands on this forum) that you can listen too and compare at most electronic stores, then buy off EB for best price.
