Today the cord plug from the HD supplied headset (for my Ultra), worked itself loose from the helmet connection, fell out,and managed to scratch the finish on the tank. %$@#!!!Why can't they make these bleepingcords with a twist-lock type connector? The cord is pretty short and stiff, as it is, and I guess the movement of the helmet (looking sideways, head checks, etc), works the connector loose. Are the J&M headset connectors better?
That is why the J&M are a much better system, they have a bit longer cords that give you more room to move around without yanking the cord out. Why would HD want to make an improvement that would cost them $ ??
To bad J&M didn't make a longer cord that would work on the HD headsets Hate to spend the money on a whole new setup when it all works except for this!!! Well this week I am placing an order with Mouser for a few things I'm going ro p/u 2 plugs and the cord and make a longer one myself see what happens!!
Thar's another string in which folks are claimin' what you describe "doesn't happen". Go news fer ya - lengthen the cord all ya want, it's still gonna put pressure on an' yank it out again sooner or later. Save yerself the headache an' get the J&M's.....
Just a tip for securing cord to helmet. Take a 2 inch piece of black tape and wrap around the cord and connector, sort of half on the cord and half on the helment connection...It works for me...Bldr
