Agree. Especially if you add a Power Comander it starts better if you hit the starter before the light/fuel pumpgoes off.

 

"Trouble" wasn't with ecm. Trouble was bad handlebar switches; ecm was/is fine.

The check engine light comes on with the ignition as part of a number of self-checks the system performs. There's a data bus throughout the bike's electrical system and data is sent around everywhere on the system to try to be sure stuff is working. HD techies call it "housekeeping". The bike will start fine whether you wait for the check routine to finish or not. I usually wait till it's done; I'm seldom in that big a hurry.

 

in the middle of a road trip this week to the blueridge parkway my cruise control started to act up then the check engine light came on, checked error code P0577, so i would have to say it was the cruise control that set off the error code. if the codes are standard at least for cars that code indicates cruise control problem, will bring to dealer to have fixed under warranty

 

My 09 Classic did the same. Replacing the handlebar switch. we will see
