RE: Emerg Road Ins.
progressive ins. includes roadside assistance.
my HOG story: it was new years eve. the wife and i decided to go for a ride (it was around 100 pm) we get about 50 miles up the road and come to a intersection where we have a couple of choices as to which way to go. so we pull over to talk about it. we hear, pssssssssssshhhhh. oh crap, theres a nail in my tire. no problem, we gots HOG, i'll just give them a call. so its now about 2o'clock. "no problem, we'll get someone there right away".... well, after a few phone calls back and forth, and about 6 hrs, they could not get anyone to come get us. so the wife rides her bike home while i wait and brings the truck and trailer back up (so thats an extra 100 miles round trip tacked on and time wasted). we load the bike up and finally get home around 11pm..... yep, HOG sure did us good that day.... but in their defense, at least they kept good communication with us and didn't wait until i called them back to ask where they were before telling me sorry.

RE: Emerg Road Ins.
heres what I got.
aaa for ran out of gas(any vehicle)and I think thats all they will do.
I think the optional tire coverage for 7 yrs covers something else like rental/hotel? not shure any feedback?
warrenty of course should cover the repair?
This leaves me open for the towing and with HD theres usually a dealer on every corner
Never needed more than a 10 mile towe and it ran me $42 so not really shure what to expect.

Although my insurance has it, I also went with the optional "premium" coverage offered through HOG and it's paid off big time the past few years. For starters, most towing coverage that comes fromyour insurance company has a mileage limit. They'll take you to a dealer but if it's over a certain distance, then you pay the difference. As an example, in 06 I did a ride out west and had my timing chip go south on me while I was in Brice Canyon. The closest dealer was 125 miles away, and in the wrong direction I was traveling. Insurance would have paid for something like 25 or 50 miles and the rest would have been up to me. The Road America coverage I got through HOG covered everything, including the trip interuption (motel, meals, etc.). It costs me zero out of pocket at the time ... just the $25.00 or so for the upgrade to the standard HOG coverage.
