Not necessarily. A requirement- espically on 06 & later models with 46mm tb's. I have a stock 44mm on my 05 120" build now & its pretty crazy , as-is.

Cirhere2: You should contact Kevin via HQ's website: call or email him. Kevin's a degreed mechanical engineer, built numerous very high hp drag engines in hisyouth, and used forumulas to calculate the requirements for the HQ 113 he's building.

The issuesinclude how much fuel is needed to feed the high air flow 113. I haven't tried to become familiar with the formulae Kevin used, but it doesinclude calculating the duty cycle and flow rate of the injectors.

If you followed the threads by Phil and Guy, you read about theirthottle body choices and there are many to choose from. It might be that a stock '07 TB with larger injectors will work on a 113; I don't know. But give Kevin a call/email and see what he has to say.

Using the Dougherty velocity stack is an experiment: Dougherty claims a 10 hp increase with the stack on other builds--time will tell if it does and what effect if any it has on torque.

The photo set shows careful editing and organization. Is there anything more beautiful than a set of gear-driven cams? This goes a long way to make this a contender for thread of the year, IMHO! Great job - I see great riding ahead!

Carl,
Great documentation, and I bet the video that Kevin is doing will provide great information. Can't wait to hear his thoughts after firing it up and getting it tuned in.

As far as the throttle body, there should be good feed-back from quite a few of us as there are many different ones being used, Kevin and the SE 50mm, I am running a Dakota Kid 50mm, Rob is gonna run a 54mm I believe, and not sure what Phil is gonna run yet, but my money is on a HPI 51mm. I too have the Doherty Power Pacc, have yet to install it but even if it does no provide the additional 10 ponies, it is really a nice looking piece. I wanted to get rid of the football.

I talked to Kevin this evening about the throttle body and he said the stock TB would work unless the owner was interested in making more horsepower at say 5K+ rpm; the larger TB would be necessary because the size of the stock TB wouldn't flow enough air to feed the 113.

The weather is supposed to be good here in the Atlanta area this week-end so prospects are good for a firing and some riding.

More pics to follow.

Forgot to post this pic of a stock piston in the new cylinder--the stock piston is upside down, but you get an idea of the larger bore of the 113" cylinder with this shot:

The Doherty Power Pac is getting some "plumbing" for venting so I'll try to get some good pics showing the details.
