Engine Vibe

Engine Vibe
This is my first touring bike, but rode a rubber mounted engine in my 2006 Wide Glide before my 2008 Road King Classic.
I'm used to the idle vibration in the engine which smooths out with speed.
I'm somewhat surprised by the increased engine vibration with the Road King. Is this due to the bigger engine, or different engine mount? It all goes away once you get going.
I've watched the engine at idle and it is rocking quite a bit within the frame. I just don't remember my Dyna engine doing this.

RE: Engine Vibe
Big twins all rock ,If you hold the front brake its much more so than if you use the rear at a stop. thats nothing to worry about long as its smooth when moving. Your other bike only had a 2 point rubber mounting system not a full rubber mounting system like the touring models do,

I test drove a 08 Road King today and I noticed the same thing. When I pulled in the clutch to slow down the bike would shake. It would shake the mirrors when I would sit at a light. The vibration would go away as soon as I accelerated. I own a 07 Wide Glide and it doesnt do this. Are you happy with your new ride? I'm trading my Wide Glide in for a 08 Road King Classic too. I saw the Pacific blue pearl and black two tone and decided I had to have it.

RE: Engine Vibe
I believe the engine mounting systems are essentially the same between the Dynas and Tourers.
Also, the link under the steering head on the '08s is not a rubber mount, it merely clamps the powertrain into the frame maintaining the vertical (side-to-side) orientation while allowing front-to-back vertical movement. It was previously located under the tank between the cylinders but the new 6-gallon tank made that location unavailable.
