The front docking piece to the squareish back docking piece??? The item in question is known as letter k on the docking kit pictures...my backrest doesnt have one and she is ready to ride the new scooter and the dealer doesnt have another backrest to rob it from.

Is it just the detachable backrest docking kit you are talking about? Mine didn't come with one either but parts guy swore it was only packaged because of the older style fender and braces. The newer models don't need it.

I just installed the detachable kit on my 07 RKC and wasn't sure what the purpose of that piece was for. My guess is more support?

My kit came with the piece but I didn't use it. I didn't appear to do anything so I didn't bother. If the bich falls off so be it.

The bars on mine were included with the docking kit for my 07 SG.

These bars came with my sissy bar.
As I was installing the docking hardware I put them on, then promptly took them off.
I didn't like how they looked (cheap and ugly), and I couldn't see how they served much of a purpose.

I'm not overly thrilled with the whole design of the detachable sissy bar system.
A Harley deserves better.
