Do not buy an 07.
You run the risk of shearing the giggle pin that holds the grin to your face. I have found that too much grinning has caused me irrepairable damage and I now walk aroung like an idiot (yes I know some say no change there then) with this big grin locked into place.

RE: Am I crazy to buy an '07 Ultra??
MY 2CENTS. I have an 03 silver + black (ahemmm.. rare color) ultra and an 07 RG.. The 03 UG is Hot and the 07 is Hot... when its hot out!maybe the 96 inch runs a bit hotter . ur sitting on an air cooled motor.. that, when standing stil, is gunna get hot .. No way around it. My old EVO 1340 from 1993 was the "coolest" big twin motor Ive ever had and the old shovel heads were ever cooler .

The '07 will be a better choice even if you need to tweak a few things. Test drive it and if you're happy, get it. It's nearly the same as an '08, which after only 1200 miles I'm really happy with. If you really want to drive yourself crazy considering choices, think about the '08 models. The new bikes have Brembo brakes that make it almost worth the purchase for that reason alone. Fly-by-wire, 6 gal tank, and IDS don't hurt either. Anyway you go you'll end up with a nice bike that will bring you a lot of fun.

ORIGINAL: bikenuts
I was thinking of buying an '03 100th Anniv. Ultra and than thought, "why don't I go for the 07 with bigger engine and 6 speed?" I mentioned this to a friend who told me of heat problems with the '07 and a noisy 5th gear. I've owned an '02 Goldwing (tended to run very hot in stop n' go traffic), and an '05 K1200LT which I thought was top heavy. So i thought I would give the HD a shot. I don't expect any bike to be without some problems, but it an get very hot in So. Cal. in the summer and I'm concerned about the reported heat problems discussed here and on other websites. So how serious is this and should I go back to the original '03 plan? I really don't like buying the older technology, but I also don't want to bake in the summer. Your thoughts, please.
