SuperTrapp slipons. My opinion

SuperTrapp slipons. My opinion
I read so many reviews on the ST SE's. Actually it became confusing as there seems to be a number of years they were offered in a number of configurations. I am here to tell you if you are looking for the non-emissions performance version of the ST for your bagger, mine being an 08 SG, then you need part number 128-65115. The SE does not stand for Screaming Eagle. It stands for Super Elite. Regardless, I ordered these and crossed my fingers. A day after ordering I contacted the dealer, Fuel Moto and asked them to reassure me I was buying the performance muffler. They did. If there is anything more subjective that the sound of a HD exhaust system then I don't know what it could be. Music to one is racket to another. When I installed these I was giggling to myself at how they could not have been a better sounding muffler to my ears. I've always thought the Rineharts had the best tone and sound but they were a little too loud for me. My description of the ST's is that to me they sound identical in tone to the Rineharts deep, deep bass note very throaty, but without the sound level of the Rineharts' My guess would be that the ST's are about 30% less loudness. Loudness speaking, if the Rineharts are a 10 then the ST's are a 7. If you are pleased with the style and looks of the ST and aren't interested in the loudest exhaust out there the I think most would be very happy with the ST. A word of warning. I'm running the stock header pipe but with true duals I can just about guarantee you these things would equal the Rneharts in volume. I say this because I still remember how quiet my Screaming Eagle pipes were prior to installing true dual headers. When they happened they got loud in a hurry. Hope this helps someone.

RE: SuperTrapp slipons. My opinion
Those ST SE are good sounding mufflers. Had a set on my 06 and after going thru numerous mufflers $$$$ put Rinehart slipons on for a while now I have D&D Police Interceptor on but I just might get me another pair of the Supertrapp. What is wrong with me?

Just put mine on last night, sound great, nice rumble at idle. Jamie at Fuel Moto was friendly and fast with shipping. Aluminum billet tips are of good quality, worth the extra you pay for them. Been shopping for a set of slip-ons for a while now, read quite a few threads pertaining to slip ons in general, thanks to UltraKla$$ic for helping me with information about the SE,s....Ride Safe

RE: SuperTrapp slipons. My opinion
I'm running SuperTrapp slip-onswith internal discs. Have been very happy with the quality of the finish and performance of these. Really like the tuneability of these slip-ons (tuneable for both noise and performance).....though at this time are running them without any discs One thing I haven't been overly happy with is the limited selection of endcaps. Really want slashcuts but the only ones shown for this slip-on are tapered (on the bike now), fishtail (which might go with) and turndowns.

Here are some numbers for ya' -- YMMV.
- On my 06 RK Custom, the measured increase 15 ft behind the bike was +10 dB from stock to V&H Ovals.
- On my 07 EG classic, the measured increase was +3 dB from stock to Supertrapp SEs.
Both were done with "A" weighting at fast idle.

How loud would the super trapp's be compared to the V&H ovals? I'am looking for some mufflers for my new road glide and would like to keep it fairly quiet, but free enough breathing for some motor work.
