Put the rear lowering kit on my SG

Put the rear lowering kit on my SG
Just got a lowering kit from Terry off his ebay site. Wow, what a piece of work! Beautifully made parts, powdercoated and very clean. Took about 15 minutes to install. Very solid parts and workmanship. I am running about 28lbs in the shocks, but it rides great. I would recommend his stuff to anyone. He also exchanged about six or seven emails with me to make sure I got the right kit.

I think you mean Tracy @ TWR. I also put his adjustable kit on my 07 Ultratoday. He's a great guy to work with and the kit is first class. I'm new to HD and made some mistakes on my ordering and had to returna kit. He bent over backwards helping me out and getting the right stuff to me. We also exchanged several e-mails and he was very helpful in the whole process.

Sounds very interesting. Can you give us a brief explanation how the kit works. Does it affect the way the shock mounts, and not shock travel? Assuming it affects shock mounting, does the bike bottom out easier (especially with a passenger)? I assume factory and aftermarket lowering shocks have different spring rates to account for the reduced travel. What effect on cornering, if any? Finally, is the seating position notably different, as if you are more sitting in rather than riding on the bike?
Thanks for any info.

Take a look at the kit on his site. It basically attaches to the original rear shock mount, gives two lowering holes (1 1/4 and 2 1/4). The SG's can only use the 1 1/4. The kit has a spacer for the top that keeps the shock aligned. Haven't done any two-up yet, but single works fine, no bottoming.
