Default Oil Temp Install With Pics at end

So I have the oil temp sending unit I want to put in the Allen hole in the front of the oil pan.
Okay I have to get a Adapter.
So if I pull the allen plug (to find an adapter) how much oil will I loose?
Any ideas, previous notes, suggestions?

Oh ya, does anyone know what size the bushing is? NAPA P/N?
Thanks guys

All of it. I bought a kit that came with the adapter. Sorry I can't tell you the size. Regradless, you will lose all the oil when you change it. If you use a very clean pan, you can always put it back in. If it was me, I would switch to Amsoil. That's what i'm doing tomorrow when I install my sender. I just turned 1000K so it's time for the first change anyway.

The bushing is 3/8" male NPT X 1/4" female NPT. Don't have the NAPA part number.

I’d say it was Pipe Threads1/8" Female X 1/4" Male adapter.
The sending unit is definitely 1/8" Pipe.
(after looking at my trusty Swadgelok book)
But now that "soos" gave me a p/n I can look for it.

I'm getting ready toinstall the oil temp guage. I'm assuming that I will not need the "Adapter Kit" sold by H-D?
Thanks,

if you do the work as I did on a cold engine. do not pull the oil fill cap off, you will loose about two tablespoons of oil when removing the the plug and installing the reducer and sending unit. I bought my kit from Wally's Cycle.
