Thank for the great response, I have passed your post to my buddy and he'll have to make the final decision. This is his first Harley and I have a feeling he'll do what ever he can to change it prior to delivery.

I had an '08 Road King loaner for about a week and got a chance to sample the ABS when a taxi suddenly pulled over for a customer right in front of me on a busy, rain-soaked road. Everyone knows how easy it is to lock up the back wheel on a Harley but in this situation when I hit the brakes hard the rear wheel's ABS kicked in and the bike slowed down fast without any skidding. Fact is, with modern ABS systems it only gets triggered if you brake hard enough to initiate loss of traction. So in normal hard braking situations that don't break this threshhold you'd never know it's there and the brakes work the same as standard Brembos. I think of it the same as I do a seat belt or an air bag.

I would have ordered it that way! One less thing I'd have to see the "Factory Authorized" dealer and their scanner about.

If I had known they were gonna add ABS , I would have waited instead of buying the 07.

I had the front abs kick in about three sunday's ago. The stars we in line. Rode up North for the weekend and was getting off 495 and Rt 2 close to home after a 850 mile weekend. The road was wet and looking back I was tired. Was coming down the off ramp where there was a ramp truck in front of me. I could not see in front of him but there was a small car. As I was getting to the end of the ramp I looked up Rt 2 and noticed the road was clear. Both the truck and myself were moving like we were going to merge. Suddenly the truck locked up his brakes because the car in front stopped at the end of the ramp. Tired and wanting to get home I guess I was little to close. Thank god most of the time I cover the front brake with two fingers. Well the abs kicked in and I started to come up on the a$$ end of the ramp truck fast. The good thing was I was going straight and the bremo's were doing the best they could to bring me to a stop. I missed the truck by inches. The abs helps that all I can say. Is it the be all end all no but it has already been worth the extra $ 800 I paid for it.

THE ORDER HAS TO BE MORE THAN 30 DAYS OUT TO CHANGE. IT IS TOO LATE IF DELIVERY IN 2 WEEKS.

the qurestion was does anyone who responded have ABS, I do, I felt strongly enough about it to trade in a 2007 Ultra to buy the 2008 ultra just to get the ABS, I actually had the need for it shortly after recieving it, a dumbassed drunk driver made a u-turn in front of me, I almost hit him, missed by about a foot of driving into his drivers door..... I didn't lock them up and slide...... he was then arrested for drunk driving, I rode home and thought about the upgrade thinking it doesn't even matter what it costs... you may never need it, if you do, you will be happy as hell it was there... not that it is a cure all, in my case I beleive it helped me.. that made it worth it...
