Installed sert last night, went for a ride today. Bike seemed to have more pull to it but nothing great. I'm still getting some knocking & pinging at WOT. Maybe it takes a little time for the computer to adjust.

how hard is it to install? thinking about getting SERT myself.

RE: sert install
nothing too it. SERT is just a computer program that you load on a laptop and use to reprogram the existing computer (ECU) on the bike. The SERT comes witha CD (which has the program and canned maps - ECU settings), a dongle (computer interface device which when used marries itself via the VIN to the bike. Once used, cannot be used on another bike/ECU). The newer SERTs do not have the two cables (one from the laptop to the dongle, theother cable from the dongle to the ECUconnector). You have to purchase these seperately.
If using a SERT on a bike with installed HD add-ons, like a SE AC and SE slip-ons, there is probably a map that ismade for these combinations. However, if youhave installed non-HD items such as a AN BS, V&H Ovals etc., there is not a map specifically designed for these combinations. You can try to use a HD map that is as close to possible to the combinationyou are using vs the HD items. I did so, and then dyno'd and hadit tuned with the SERT. I also had them give me a copy (on a memory stick) of the custom map they built.
The SERT is no permantely attached to the bike, like a PC. Once you get the map loaded into the ECU, you just disconnect the laptop, dongle and cables and you're done.
Easy to do, just read and follow the instructions carefully(like when to turn on the ignition switch, etc.) Don't ask me how I know.

RE: sert install
The best way to have a sert done is to have it dynoed so you can have a program for the setup on yer bike. If you git the wrong map it is not going to run as well and you still take changes of making yer bike run lean. Its also hard to find a dealer that knows the program on the sert because its so large. But if you can find a dyno man and he dials the map in for each set of RPM's yer bike will run better. I took the sert off my bike cause I kept making changes and chose the T-Max with A/T

There will be no computer adjustment. You will have to dial it in.

RE: sert install
Not to hijack the thread, but on my 03' SE-Deuce, I was the second owner, and I do not have any way to get in touch with the PO. If I took the bike into the dealer, could they tell me if it has had the SERT already installed? When I got the bike it had already had a stage 1 installed with SE slip on mufflers and a K & N type element and open back air cleaner cover. I am just wondering if the SERT was ever installed. The bike runs just OK.....I have installed a set of V & H Big Radius pipes, and I am getting just a bit of surging at like 5%-15% throttle under light load. I Have already checked the plugs several times and each time they look 99% perfect with a nice light brown/tan color to them. If the bike has not had the SERT installed I think I am going to give Fuel Moto a call and let them know exactly what config I have on the bike, and then see if they have a canned map for a PCIII that I could install on the bike.
Again thanks for you help in advance....if not for having this forum and you guys to bounce stuff off of I would have to go by what the boys at the dealers service dept tell me, and you know how one sided that could be.
