Default Adding a fairing

I know it has been beat to death here. BUT...thinking about getting a fairing for my '02 RK. My problem is no matter how many times I see the pics of Dead Center, Dragonfly, Hoppe etc. It always looks like the fairing sits higher then the HD fairings on Ultras etc. Is it just me or is it the handlebars on RK's.
Second, how hard is it to add gauges (oil or tach) and can you quick disconnect them as you can the radio? Thinking of the gauges working parts I think not, but thought I would ask.

Point 3 on this thread https://www.hdforums.com/m_1276688/tm.htm
does a comparison on height. I read a lot of comments of where the fairing appears to tilt more forward then stock harley fairings.I bought a Dragonfly and have no problem with where the solid part of the fairing ends and the windsheild starts. Mounted properly my fairing does not visually tilt forward. Looks like it came with the bike.

As far as gauges board member cohiba_joe put gauges in his Deadcenter. I think user Ram put them in too. Might want to PM them.

It is probably less expensive to go this route.

Yes I know buying a SG would be the way to go, except $$, custom paint I have and not being able to remove the fairing if I want the wind in summer.

Thanks for the feedback guys, 'preciate it.

I went with aKenny Day fairing and never looked back. Beauty of it is that it fits with the HD tach I had installed on my 05 RK. Quick detach, with a system that may save your stock w/s from being stolen also. I will attempt to add a couple images here, if (when) I fail, surf up his site it is worth a look.

I have the hoppe fairing. I use the same windshield height for this and on an ElectraGlide.

After buying the faring yer going to be wanting to git the running lights to go with it. What a difference a faring and running lights makes. If you git a chance check out the new seats on the new touring models.

The gauges are a nice feature, but a king is a king and there are no gauges for us. Mine is a Bob Dron from Arlen Ness, not much wind in the chest but plenty in the face. For about $200. on ebay and add the cost of paint. Stereo would be nice to, but the Ipod works fine.
