A couple questions about my 99 RKC since my service manual is on order and I can't even figure out how to lift the seat
1.) Is the gas tank 4 or 5 gallons?
2.) I'm getting 40-50mpg on the bike. Is that typical?
3.) The gas light comes on a 1/4-tank. Does that mean I have 1 gallon of gas left in there?
Totally off subject, but I keep reading about a "primary" and wondering what the heck that is. I thought these bikes have dry clutches?

45 mpg is OK
Don't trust the gas light, fill her up after 150 miles.
In the primary (left side engine) you got the stator
the primary chain and the clutchplates.
There is about 1 liter of oil inside the primary
to oil the chain and plates (wet clutch).
At the back of the seat there is a single screw
turn the screw out and lift the seat from the rear.
Thats all !

Interesting, so the primary oil system is it's own and must be drained as part of regular maintenance (oil & filter)? Does it use the same type oil as the engine or does it use the tranny gear oil?
Yes the primary oil system is it's own and must be drained
It uses primary oil (NO engine oil) or your clutch may slip.
