RE: Advice on buying a Road King Classic or Street Glide
That's a tough choice. I bought an RKC this (late) spring after seeing (noticing) one for the first time a few weeks before. I've made it breathe a little better, but cosmetically it's stock and I have no intentions of changing that. The bike is absolutely perfect in its execution of style/form. I've only taken the windshield off to ride that way a couple of short times.
The only time I've second-guessed it was one day at the dealer waiting on something I stood between the two models in the showroom and gave the SG a good eyeballing. I threw a leg over it. I wanted it. But I wanted it too.
For the most part I don't think I'd use the radio much, and I find the batwing fairing a little less accessible from an esthetic viewpoint. There are rare occasions when I think it might be nice to have a little hand protection from cold wind and/or rain, and the batwing would provide that. But the shorter windshield of the SG would serve for less protection than the stock RKC lexan. And putting a taller one on it would rather ruin the look, in my opinion.
I did consider the standard Road King briefly, but the hard saddlebags didn't accommodate my laptop nearly as well as the bags on the Classic. It's obvious to me the leather-covered saddlebags are more usable in terms of space and getting the stuff in/out. So they don't lock and aren't completely weathertight; I can live with that.
I'm rather glad I don't have to choose between them just now, but feel I would still go with the RKC again. The clear windshield offers a much more open visual, not blocking off nearby obstacles like the batwing can. And although the SG is a hottie, the RKC just looks so, so right!

RE: Advice on buying a Road King Classic or Street Glide
I thought (and still think) the Road King (standard) is the best looking Harley on the road.
I walked into the dealership looking to buy a Road King....and fell in love with a VIVID BlackStreet Glide.
I still think the Road King is the best looking bike on the road when looking at it from the front.
But the Street Glide looks best from the rear.
Funny, but I would have thought that I didn't care at all about having a stereo; and now I find it to be my favorite feature.

I just purchased an 08 Street Glide this past weekend. I only have 170 miles on it so far, you know work gets in the way but so far I love it. I have a 07 Street Bob as well and the ride and handling are night and day. Of course they are totally different bikes but WOW. I still love my Dyna but the wife loves the SG....Especially when she is on back..

I own a rk custom, and I love it. With any of the rk's you get the choice of riding preference. You can dress it up for long hauls (and add a fairing with a radio), or strip it down for local runs. you have the choice, with the sg, no choice. The fairing is fixed. Not that that is bad, it looks awesome, but having choices are great. In the end, you have to determine what kind of riding you want to do... unless you get the king, then it doesn't matter because you can make it any way you want. IMO.

I stood in the showroom today and looked hard at all the bikes in inventory.....I had a wad of hundreds in my pocket................................I yanked out the wad and threw it down on a Road King Classic.
Shes still sitting on the trailer cause it's 5:30AM and I just got her home from over 450 miles away.....After I get some winks I'll ease her off the trailer and putter off for the rest of the day.
But I can already assure you there will be no regrets.

Now that hardbags and fairings are available get a Sportster.(lol)
You like different models, get the RK, a detachablefairing with a stereo, a detachable tourpac, and a back rest. You'll have a different bike combo for every day of the week.
