How manyof you that live up north plan on riding all winter? And what is your cut off. Myself I will ride as long as it stays above 50 degrees and roads are clear but any colder and its to the corner store and back .

On my current bike I am good down to 25 deg. with my cold weather gear. That bike a 800 Suzuki just has a windshield. When the EGC arrives in November I will get down to there at least due to the fairing. I live 30 miles south of Boston.

I rode in to work this morning at 49 degrees. Bout 40 miles at 75 MPH on the interstate. No cold weather gear yet just a denum jacket. It's normally a lot colder in VA. this time of year but after a 15 year break from riding I'll take what ever I can get.

I don't mind the cold too much as I have ridden with temps in the teens. The thing that holds me back is the de-icer that the DOT applies to roads.
Very corrosive to chrome and aluminum. The first time they spread it on the roads signals the end of my riding season.

When I lived in New York City I had a Kawi CSR 1000. I told my wifei didn't need the car anymore, when I brought the bike home without tellng her I was buying it. She said When it gets cold I'll wish I still had the car( I gave her the keys). EVEry morning in December Thru March If it was dry I rode. 2 degree out if the bike started I rode. I remember one morning I just didn't want to ride. Dry but colder than a witches T**. I went out back gave the starter a couple of hits and flooded it. I didn't know she was watching out the window. As I came back in the dor she handed me a can of engine start. I asked her when she got it. she said the day after I brought the bike home. It was a very cold ride to work that day.
we moved to Az the following year.

Living in PA, I guess you won't be riding much. Get the gear you need (heavy leather jacket, chaps, HEAVY gauntlet gloves, face mask)... AND RIDE!!! I've riden down to 14 degrees, 20 miles to work. I haven't riden any lower, because that's as cold as it has been here in NC.

Coldest so far was 8 degrees, 40 miles to work. That one hurt. I'm good down into the teens. No heated gear, but I do use my son's snowboarding gloves when it gets real cold. Snow and ice ends my riding season.
