All 3 of my tourers had the same noise, 03Ultra, 05 Classic, 05RK, so do my friends 06 RK Classic, 04 Ultra, 05 Classic, and 06 RG. You will get used to it...just ride.

Casique. You have spoke wheels and the orientation of the rotors can cause the pads to "howl" and squeak when applied. Dealers got an update to align the rotors with the cutouts in the same orientation. Sounds like a joke but helps.

On the other, Moco makes the rotors and calipers solid mount. I have always been told one has to float. Moco says the stock rotors are somewhat floating in the design of the cutout. Not true. Don't but Moco's floating rotors either. They are not much of a floating rotor. They tightened the pins to reduce noise. Same problem. The other is the pistons do not retract at the same rate as they should. Some pistons slihgtly hang up causing the pad to come in contact with the rotor. Tell your SW that anytime two parts come in direct contact, it causes wear. Hence replacing pads every 8-10k miles.

DonnyI has the fix. Do the same and problems gone

My dealers service manager told me they have found that slightly chamfering the front and back edge of the pads helps stop the squel.

Listen to what he's said, folks. The sound started after "yesterday" when he took the bike in for new rubber and pads. I'm telling you, they unmounted the calipers and put them back on in not exactly the same place. I did exactly the same thing last Saturday and got exactly the same result. Now, after a tank of gas the noise is almost entirely gone again. It was just an edge of the pads catching an edge of the unburnished area of the rotors.

I was totally embarrased that when I would pull up to a set of lights the front brake squeal was louder then the radio....before pressure was applied.Under the advice from a few people on here I bought and installed lyndall race brakes......not a noise since. I think they cost me about $60 bucks. Problem solved, and I did not even go with the floating rotors as I figured I would try it without first... good luck!!
