Default Headlight plug on FLHTCU

I'm trying to get the front fairing off. I have the screws out, but can't see the headlight plug. Do you just pull it straight out or is it something extra?

Thanks in advance,

TR

Carefully pull the front of the fairing away from the inner. When I do it on my 2001 FLHTC, I lay a towel on top of the passing lamp/turn signal bar. As you do, you will see the headlight plug on the back of headlight. Pull it off. I usually have to wiggle it a little as I pull it off.

The top screws use a philips screwdriver and the bottom is a T20. God knows why they used different screws.

That's on my '05 Standard. I imagine it would be the same.

Ditto on the wiggle thing.

The light plug has a "clip lock", you need to squeeze it and pull for it to release.

I remove my entire headlight assembily from the fairing, and unplug the light. Just use a torx and remove the four screws. Makes removing the entire fairing easier, and you don't have to mess with the small screws inside the headlamp ring. Make sure you cover the front fender to keep from scratching. I also drop my driving light bracket down, makes removing and installing the fairing a snap. Takes two minutes, only four screws.

Good luck

This is correct and if you do not squeeze it to "unlock it" you very well may booger up either the plug itself or the prongs on the bulb....................don't ask me how I know.

Oh well, I needed to upgrade the bulb anyways.
