This is for VDRDKING, you where going to put the tires to the bridge road test,
did you? and what is your review. I am almost ready for tires,
Thanks.

I'm back from my Florida Turkey Run ride and I can
tell you there is no problems what so ever with steel
grated bridges.

The Michelins work flawlessly on steel grated bridges
as well asrain grooved concrete and asphalt.

I hope this helps you my friend"

Chuck:

Just wanted to chime in and say THANKS! for the feedback.

Weather's been crappy here the last few weeks, so my serious riding time has been practically non-existant.

Sounds as though your Florida run was a good one.

My local dealer quoted me $250.00 for one rear Michelin installed. (McAllen, TX) Is this high?
I see someone else said they paid $300.00 for both.

The extended warranty (road hazard) just gave me a new front tire (Dunlop) and I can't see replacing it just to have a matched set.
By the way, I am not a very aggressive rider.

And, to answer someone above, the Michelin's come blackwall only

I just purchased an E3 for $105 (shipped, from http://www.americanmototire.com) and installed it myself on my spare wheel. This might be a good time to go in with some friends and buy some tools to do tire changes yourself. You'll just need at least three simple tire tools, some lubricant, and some cut-up plastic milk or soda cartons. We bought a Harbor Freight tire changer with MC adapter when on sale, and a simple tire balancer (e.g., http://www.marcparnes.com ) with stick-on weights. I put fairly high mileage on my bikes and this has been a worthwhile investment. You don't really need the tire changer, but it simplifies the job. Another friend changes his by himself with only tire tools.

Did I see somewhere that the Michelin's are not available for the earlier Bikes ? I have a 2000 Ultra and need rubber pretty bad, I want the michelins really really bad. I will be doing the tire swap myself since my Bro has a tire changer and all the goodies for his Wing ding thing. I also want to try those balancing beads, do any of you have a link for those ? Thanks for all the reviews, I ride through the winter if the roads are clear of snow, God Bless heated jackets !!!!!!!!

Thanks for the ***-is-tance

I figure I need to repost this for you! Aggressive ride
has nothing to do with it when a deer jumps out in
front of you or a drunk blows a red light in front of
you.........[:'(]

I need to change my front tire soon. I have over 35000 miles on my stock front Dunlop. 3rd Rear tire, 2 Dunlops and currently a Metzler.
Is it ok to mismatch with Michelin in the front?
Any ideas guys? I have a 05 R C Custom.
jay.

Running an OEM Dunlop on the front that has no
traction compared to the Metzeler rear would scare
the HE!! out of me because I hate the front tire to
push out or going into a turn. Front end push can
be deadly in the mountains in blind corners, if you
push right out into an on coming car head on! []

On the other hand putting a stickyer tire on front
like the Michelin with the less traction Metzeler is
a great idea. I would much rather my rear tire slide
going into a turn or coming out of a turn. Rear end
slides are a lot easier to save then a front tire slide
with a big push or high side crash. Plus it is always
nice to have the stickyer tire on front when a deer or
drunk driver jumps out in front of you and you need
to stand the bike on it's nose to save your life. You
would never stand a chance in that situation with an
OEM Dunlop tire on front! [:'(]

Good luck and ride safe my friend...

Chuck:

Hopefully the weather will improve very soon.............I'm really in shock with the way it's been the last few weeks. Too cold/wet too early in the season!

Having ridden a lot of the eastern/southern portion of the state, it does offersome fine riding. IMO, it runs a distant 2nd to the Smokies including the Dragon. Lots of turns and twisties, just not any 11 mile sections with 318 turns.

If you decide to ride up our way, just let me know and I'll pm you contact #s in case you ever need some assistance.

BTW, lived in Greenville for 4 years in the '70s; and have to say your in a fine state too! Wish we had your weather!

Ride safe!
