Default Roadglide windshield help

I have a 2006 RG and want to change the windshield and would like to know how to take off thewindshield chrome center piece trim. The left and right side is easy to loosen, but won't come off until I take off the center piece and I don't want to force it. Any help would be appreciated.

Default RE: Roadglide windshield help

Sounds like you've got the chrome trim. The center piece with the word "Road Glide" is held on with a velcro type material so just grab hold of it with your hands and it should come off. The worst of it all is the damn wellnuts on the windshield. The design SUX Loosen the pieces slowly with the tool that came with the trim piece and I assume you have it. DON'T loosen them too far or the wellnuts will fall into the fairing. Before starting, I'd go to the dealer and pickup a couple of extra well nuts. Not to worry, you can always get them out of the fairing by loosening the two halves. The windshield design SUX incase you didn't already read that above lol. Once you've done it a few times and lost a couple of well nuts, you'll get the hang of it.
