All good suggestions

You might try a ball end allen wrench.

Ball end is slightly larger than "Normal" allen

Good Luck

I had exactly the same problem, the left bolt wouldn't budge. I tried the hammer route but ended up gashing the chrome. The dealer finally did it for me, but they destroyed the bolt and replaced it. And they didn't charge me, I guess because I give them $420 every 5K miles to change my oil.

There are a zillion methods to try...here's a couple. Take a good center punch and hammerto the edge of the bolt and strike the punch counterclockwise in a slight downward direction. Often the jolt will loosen the bolt and the "peening" of the socket where the allen wrench fitswill aid in the allen wrench fitting tighter in the hole, you may have to tap the allen in..............probably the most absolute method is to spotweld an allen wrench to the bolt with a mig welder.that will assure no slip with the allen and the heat will aid in loosening the bolt.As others suggest there are many places to get it done a lot cheaper than the dealer...............a lot of dealers add a premium to "fix" a homefix.

I've used all of the above suggestions once or twice in my life, one will work for sure.

I enjoy removing stubbern bolts. Where do you live? Be happy to come by and help you out if your close by.

Vise grips and a shot of Penetrant PB Blaster to loosen up the bolt.

Maybe I'm looking at wrong bolt. What is it, 5/16? I'm assuming he's going to snap the head off.
