Hey Scott - What drive belt are you going to run with the new pulleys?
Stock belt, swapping out to the '06 rear pulley negates the need to replace the belt. Bobby Woods shared that little tip and I plan on using it.

DONE, I have the 96 upgraded with SE MCR heads w/ .030 cometic gasket, roller rockers, adj. pushrods, Woods TW-7H cams w/ .575 lift & 240 duration, and ThunderMax Auto tuner.

The bike pulls like a raped ape and hits 100mph a little too quickly in 5th. I haven't opened it up hard yet, I want to break-in easy then, see what it really will do. No dyno runs since I have the Auto-tuner, no need. I can say after riding a 103, this bike hits and pulls harder. I will probly set up some time with my shops dyno later, to adjust the timing curve for these cams, and I need to adjust the pushrods another 1/2 turn to take out a little valve train noise from the 2700 to 3400 rpm range. There seems to be a little slop.

I am very happy with thefeel of the bike. Now, to get the 150 on the back end and I will be good to go.

It is amazing the power you CAN get out of a 96 for a little less cabbage. I will save the 103 for later when I wear out the new top end I already paid for personally. I have done less to mine then you havehaddoneand I know how well it runs!

I am hoping some will consider the fact that a 103 is not always needed to get big performance gains. But does have its place in theall you can get category. The 96s can be made to run surprisinglyhard!

Glad to hear you got it done and are happy with the results. Did you change pistons also? If not, I wouldn't think you needed to break anything in. I haven't heard of the SE MCR heads you are using. Can you elaborate a little on what those are (ie. Chamber and valve size)?

Thanks

I used the stock cylinders and pistons, the "break-in" is just to make sure everything seats properly. The MCR heads are:

Nothing wrong with taking it easy on new parts for a little while. I just don't have the patience.

Was there supposed to be something else in your post regarding the MCR heads?

tx_rg: What was the cost of the parts? I ask because the only SE MCR heads I saw in the '08 SE parts catalog are listed at $949.95; SE roller rockers are $469.95; compression releases (which are machined into the MCR heads) are $84.95.

Glad you are pleased with the outcome.

Just looked online at the SE MCR heads. So these sound like the old SE Performance heads renamed to designate they are ready for Mechanical Compression Releases. I didn't see any other spec differences. Is this right?

TX_RG - I'm sure we would all be very curious to see the dyno chart for this. On paper it looks like a very potent combo with good bang for the buck. Especially if you can pick up a deal on the heads.

I don't understand why you spend $949 on a set of Screamin Beagle heads when you can haveyours professionally ported for less money and get better results.
