Default Tru Duals muffler keeps slipping

My right side muffler keeps slipping on my Tru Duals. I have repositioned the clamp so it is all the way forward on the muffler and used a ratchet instead of an allen wrench. It is still slipping off the header. I am afraid to overtighten it. Any suggestions?

Rinehart suggests copper permatex silicone. I never used it on any other exhaust but I did on the Rineharts. Their clamps don't seem like they compress like the Harley clamps.

They are Rineharts.

If your using the clamps that came with the RHTD... Toss-em and get "NEW" HD Clamps...

You might want to check how far the mufflers slip onto the header pipe, I just installed V&H Ovals on my RK and have at least 1 1/2" of the header pipe covered. If your's are not in far enough you will not have enough clamping force to keep them from moving.

Either make the slots on the muf longer or put a thin stripof tin between the muf and pipe, then tighten clamp. It worked for me.

Because the Rinehartsare a sloppy fit you should coat the inside of the muffler with Permatex Ultra Coppersilicone (or =) and use new HD clamps and CRANK THEM DOWN as tight as they will go !!!

I didn't put on the permatex as advised. I would think it would make it more slippery???
