I've had my V&H Ovals on for about 20k miles and love the sound.

V&H slip on mufflers have a removable baffle. V&H slip on ovals (with the rounded oval piece extending past the end of the muffler) also have a removable baffle but it is short and there is no quiet replacement and no way to add material (fiberglass) to reduce the level of sound. Slip-on baffles can be removed and replaced with quieter baffles or you can add or remove the fiberglass packing. V&H does not not make a quiet baffle for the slip-on ovals and they recently emailed me and told me that they had no plans to make one. I started with BUB Sleepers and thought they sounded like a dump truck trying to make a grade. So, I bought the dual headers and slip-on ovals because I heard them on a stock FI 05 in a parking lot. Then I incresased my Cu In to 95 and added the 203 cams to my carbureted electra glide. Now the slip-on ovals are loud(period) I most often ride 100 miles (+) each time I go out. The other day I traveled 350 miles and the pipes seemed louder and they are becoming abnoxious. I just replaced the ovals with my BUB's and they are quieter on start up but they now make a stronger sound, more Harley like, but they are also louder than in the past. If V&H made a quiet baffle for the slip-on ovals I'd buy one because I think the ovals have a great look. Until then the Bub's stay on, and maybe I'll try something else. Remember the sound is in the ear of the beholder.

Some JB weld on the ends to make the holes smaller....That should do it.
