ORIGINAL: lp

If the Ovals were say a 10, where would you say the Touring Slipons are? Like a 7 or something?

I'm interested in a quieter pipe for my long one month trip...

lp
Correction; I have the SE Street Performance Slip-ons.
With:
Ovals=10
Stock=0

IMO, the SE Street PerformanceSlip-ons (80491-07) = 5
For me, these are outstanding pipes. The ovals had a good sound to them but were too loud for me. These '07 SE's have an even better sound and at the right volume. Careful not to get the 80491-08 as I heaed the were about the same sound as stock.

My V&H Ovals are not that loud....They make a nice throaty rumble...When you twist its ear it will make a little more noise...But it is a very pleasant noise!

I have the ovals and the sound is just right. I wouldn't want them any quieter.

V&H has a baffle that replaces the oval original baffle (considered a quiet baffle) for those who do not want it as loud, but retains most of the performance.

Not to be contrary but I contacted V&H about queit baffles for the Ovals and they told me they don't make them. Do you have a part number?

I heard somewhere that you can remove the baffles and add some packing. I don't know if that is true. I also don't know what type of packing they were referring to. Sorry. I just had a set installed on my 08 with the stage one load with the SERT and its quieter than the same setup on my 05 Ultra.

I did the same thing...although i like the look of the Ovals and would put them back on if there was a way to quiet them down.

Regardless of what you put on, I would suggest a pair of custom ear plugs. Got apair in Sturgis for $65. Best investment you will make.
I use them religiously with my Ovals and any bike I ride. You still hear the radio. We ain't gettin' younger and they will prolong your hearing!
