Do any of you gear heads or maybe HD techs here, know exactly what cams are in the police 103ci package? some have said the se 255, other dealer people have told me some type of epa cam. does anyone have real info?
Also exactly what head are used for the police bike recall. HD installs compression release heads on 07 police bikes as part of a recall. I have heard that these are SE heads because harley wouldn't retool just for the few police bikes. real info would be appreciated. thanks. oh yeah, I have an 07 police model.

I have an '04 FLHTPI and was curious about the difference in cams, pistons, heads, if any.

Easiest way is to get the HD Part Manual for your police bike and take down the part numbers for what you are interested in: cams, heads, etc.

Then compare those numbers to the civilian touring model and to the cams, pistons, heads, etc.listed in the SE Parts catalog.

 

The Cop bikes run same cam's as the 96". Only dif is the bore. They do have different Ecm's, but have same rev limit etc. Slightly different fuel and timing settings.

 

The cop bikes have 9.6:1 compression so the MOCO changed more than just the bore since a stock 96" is 9.2 IIRC.

the police engine is a stock 96 with a big bore kit. Piston configuration with the big bore kit increase the ratios.......
NO Screamin eagle heads...no high flow heads....

07 Program for police bikes...compression release heads......stock head with compression releases to counter starter load problems at start up......this is now stock for the 2008 Police Bike.

 

Larger bore, increased swept volume, same combustion chamber volume as stock 96" = more compression.

 

So, can "anyone" order a police bike? I noticed they don't show up on the Harley web page (unless I don't know where to look).
