Default Engine temp gauge

I'd like to have an enginetemperature gauge on my 08 Ultra but don't want to loose the thermometer in the dash.
Is there a (non-electronic) dipstick orengine mounted temp gauge that will work?

You can replace the dipstick with a battery operated unit that will tell you the temperature of the oil as well as the level but it only works when you are stopped and on the side stand. It an H-D item but I don't remeber the part number.

Agree with Nick. Air temperature gauge is worthless. I replaced mine with a oil temp gauge when I installed an oil cooler. Never regretted it.

I agree the air temp gauge is useless. However I went with the lcd dipstick and seems to work pretty well. As noted above it does require being on the side stand for a minute.

What I did was replace the stock air temp guage with a oil temp guage then added an oil filled thermometerto the handlebarsthat actually works and is accurate.
