Demand for Harley Davidsons

RE: Demand for Harley Davidsons
You asked for opinions and mine not based on any research.
One reason HD sells the EG touring bikes for top dollar is because they get list price and the demand historically continues to be there for them.
The economy is down amoung middle class manufacturing sectors. A trip to Michigan, Ohio,Georgia (GM, Ford), and several other states willconvince you. The mfg. jobs that shipped to China, est 1.4 million of them in the past 5 years were high paying manufacturingjobs of all types. Thoseguysand gals bought a lot of Harleys over thepast 30 years. I'd like to see the Sales demographics of HD. I would be willing to bet that 70%+ are sold east of the mississippi. I'd alsolike to see the age groupsvs units sold comparisons as well.
HD has brilliant business people and HDwill do whatever it takes to keep profit marginsup, without destroying the distribution base andif that means limiting supply, then they will until lack of demand forces them to do something different. They won't undermine the loyal dealers by selling at losses just to get product out on the street. They may createthe illusion of slow downs to spur domesticbuyers to getone while they are hot. I like my 08 Ultra, evenwithout ABS brakes. It's the best Hog I've bought yet. I have to believe the foreign market demandsare still very high.
I'll start to worry when I see HD form a parntership with Honda to fill product line holes. Until then, I'll keep riding my new hog and living the dream.
Keep it real.

[sm=jawdrop.gif]There's a shortage of spotted owls too?
[&o]........just when you didn't think it could get much worse.......
Guess this shortage of toilet paper and owls gives the expression "Who? Do you shat thru feathers?" a new meaning.
