this morning on my way to work. I was running down I-35 in Round Rock between 75 and 80 mph and a truck must have picked it up off the highway. Somehow it managed to get just over the windshield and just under my helmet and smacked the crap out of me. Talk about unlucky! I think all the cagers around could hear me cussing. When I got to work my head was bleeding and swole up just over my left eye. I'm going on the tollway tomorrow.....

What a bummer. Glad it wasn't worse, like stitches or something.

I thought I got it by a rock once, almost went down it hurt so bad. Got to where I was going and my friends said 'man what happened to you?'. I went in the bathroom and my face was really swelled up on one side. In afew minutes I could hardly see out of my left eye and I looked like the elephant man. Turned out that there was pieces of a bumble bee in my helmet! That thing hit me so hard and stung me instantly that I felt like I got hit with a baseball size rock! I still can't believe that I kept the bike up.

 

That SUCKS....
But ya got to wonder... How in the he11 does a rock or a bug manage to miss the windshield and nail ya between the helmet visor and the top of your glasses\goggles.... Happens to me more then I want to think about in the last 30+ years of riding.... AND IT STILL SUCKS!!!

Screw the rocks watch out for bumble bee's!! those bastards come with some kick!

 

And you can see a bumble bee coming usually and there's nothing you can do about it but brace yourself and hope for the best.
My favorite was a big wasp in NC on my Softtail. Hit me in the cheek then got caught in the strap covering my ear and stung me a couple of times in its dying throes while I was pulling over yelling bloody murder. I stopped and threw my helmet off, wiped what was left of that sucker off my ear and made it home with a lopsided head.

 

Wahl now, ya'll WANT ta "ride in the wind", right?<G> Sorry - ain't laughin' AT ya, but that's why ah like mah Tulsa shield - it stops that kinda stuff. Say what ya want, ah'll stick with that extry protection fer mah face - ah'm oogly 'nuff already!<figgered ah'd say that afore JMJohn or OilCan could...>

I've gotten hit by bugs in the same place, but not rocks. Must have hurt like he11. For reasons like this I find it incredible when I see someone riding without eye protection. If I had a choice of a helmet or eye protection, I'd go with eye protection every time. And I wear a helmet every day.

 

On a happier note, it was pure luck that that rock made it thru all the obsticles, today is the day to get that winning lottery ticket..
just sayin'....
