Default mufflers?

Hi, I just put a new set of Rinehart slip-on mufflers on my bike. And I started it up to hear it and check for any leaks. And I am getting a little leak on both sides where the muffler clamps to theheader pipe. So has anyone had this problem? I thought I might go and buy some high temp silicone to see if that works.

Thanks...

Im thinking it wouldnt be a good idea to put any type of sillycone near there...
best to gt some new gaskets and re-install them rather than make a big mess with the liquid gop.
I do think there is a right way and a in-correft way to install those, but I am also sure someone will correct me too
Cheers,
Rob

I don;t think there are gaskets between the slip-on and the pipe. Are you sure the clamp is out on the end of the slip-on, where the "snout" is slit? I'm thinking that maybe the clamp is too far back, and it can;t collapse that part of the snout that isn't slit, or cut. If the clamp is slid out flush with the end of the slip-on snout, then it can pinch it tighter to the pipe.

I had trouble like this once and it was the clamp it's self. The hour glass shaped spacer on the bolt seezed to the bolt not letting the clap tighten properly. Check to make sure all parts are free!
