Default HD Garage opener again....

Ok here is my first post on the subject.

https://www.hdforums.com/m_2282075/m...tm.htm#2282075

The door opens and closes perfectly with the switch of the hi/low...........until I plug the headlight in. Then it doesn't send a signal out at all.

Any suggestions?

I've also noticed that the bright light indicator is on all the time even when dim.......WTF!

Is it wired in series with your headlight or parrallel?

It's all spliced into the headlight. Not sure what "parrallel" means.
New to electrical stuff!

I double check that you're not getting a loose connection when you move the harness. I know when I put mine in that I found the connectors that HD provided to be pretty cheap. I just spliced the wires together and sealed with electrical tape. No problems with the opener at all.

I soldered th wires together and wrapped them with electrical tape instead of using them butt connectors that came with it. I just can't figure out why it doesn't work when the headlight is plugged in.

Is it working with the fairing on and no headlight, or is working with the fairing off and no headlight? Just curious if it's a problem with your signal not getting to the opener.

It quits working once the headlight is plugged in.

Hmmmm, lets try this. Switch your headlight to high beam, then try it.

Ok I'm not trying to be mean, but if you don't knoe the difference between parrallel (More than one path for current to flow) and series (direct path, only one path for current to flow)Stop. Before you fry something.

What he said! Chances are you have the opener wired in series with the headlight and thus when it plugged in and on low beam the thing doesn't work.
