Default 16" rear with 21" front too much difference???

I posted this under the wheels section also but thought I would put it here too since this is about a touring bike.
My questions is has anyone ever heard of running a 16" rear wheel with a 21 or 18" front wheel on a bagger?
I have an 07 Street Glide and want to buy some custom wheels for it and was wondering what the best combo would be.
I was on the Hogpro site and they offer some sets for baggers with a 16" rear wheel and the option to upgrade to a 21" front wheel.
Is it me or does that sound like a drastic difference from front to rear?
Any input is appreciated
Thank you

Some people just change the front wheel to a 21 and leave the stock 16 because you can't see it very well. I went 21-18 and thats what Hog pro recomends. I think it looks better when they match.

It's a bigger wheel, but it's also a lower profile tire. So the diameter of the whole wheel and tire is not that much differant.

Yep... No problems going with a 21" and 16". All your personal choice.

Thanks for the input.
So you mean to tell me that if I go with a 21 front and leave the back a 16 that it will handle ok and the bike wont look like I'm doing a wheelie?

Hmmm. Looks like I might start saving for a 21" front and leave the rear as it is...

I'm happy living with the knowledge that the engineers who built this thing kinda know what they're doing.

Yes and No. It's definitely a bigger wheel and the tire is more low profile, but the difference in overall height is almost 2 inches. Divide that by 2 and you get nearly a 1" increase in overall actual ride height. I had my bike set-up with stock height suspension and the 21" for a couple of weeks until my lowering kit came in. It handled a little more loose than stock. Once I brought the front end back down, it handled about the same as stock. YOu can definitely do a 21/16 set-up, but I would look to lower your front end 1" after you do it.

130/90/16 Metz ME880 = 25.87" overall height
120/70/21 Metz ME880 = 27.80" overall height

So if I install the front lowering kit my stock fenders and everything will work with the 21" ??

I run a 1" front drop kit , 21" wheel, stock fender, works fine. Go with a 4.25" x 18", 160/60 rear, max for stock fender. Metzelers would be my only choice.
