Default RE: Setting up SAT NAV.

Thanks for your help.

I dont truly know what I need

I have the HK radio on the SG...I figure that if I were to pay money over to the dealer then they would 'activate' my hardware and provide some disks of software to use.

My question is how to 'activate' the hardware and then I wonder if it will work with the disks I already have from the BMW

I wonder if you press certain buttons in sequence to 'activate' it etc.

I dont really know and need a HD technician to tell me what really goes on I guess!

Thanks

think what we want to know, is are you sure you even have the HD Nav. The stock HK radio has a button that says Nav, but this doesn't mean you actually have the Nav/GPS hardware. Without it, the discs do you no good. If in fact you don't have the HK Nav unit, from what I've read, it leaves a lot to be desired. Pretty basic in features, but spendy.

If you don't have it, but an aftermarket (Garmin or others) I have a Garmin 2610 that has the entire US on the memory card and doesn't require any DVD to operate it once the maps are loaded (unlike my Chrysler GPS that has a DVD that stores the maps).

Default RE: Setting up SAT NAV.

i have the basic unit, just came with the bike.

I press the NAV button and it just says 'not activated'

I figured that maybe it was a simple activation sequence and then I could use the disks that I already own.

Guess not!

Thanks for your help, figure I will manage without it.
