RE: What performance upgrades to buy?
There's a bunch of threads on this issue...
Heat is a issue and EPA also.... Doing a Stage 1 will help address this HEAT PROBLEM & performance improvement... You may want to wait till the aftermarket has there Fuel Management Systems up and running... TMax with auto tune would be a Great way to go...

crzeigler:
Be careful. Going into a dealer and asking for a "stage 1" will not address heat issues since they'll load an EPA map into your ECU.
Evidently around here "stage 1" means some mufflers (or complete exhaust?), a freer-flowing airbox assembly, and some fuel management to get beyond the EPA limitations placed on the manufacturers, the dealers, and, technically, us. In the Harley shop, it will be HD/SE mufflers, HD/SE airbox assembly, HD/SE/EPA download (for fuel management). Which are both basically the same things, but not really. Depending on the shop/personnel, they may want to sell other-than-HD/SE parts but use the HD/SE ECU download. That is really not a good idea; at least it ain't the best one.
Also, around here, it seems, "pipes" are either mufflers or the complete exhaust system (the pipes leading to the mufflers).
Just a general heads-up.
