the engine heat on 08 Street Gide?
I rode my dads 07 ultra and the engine heat was crazy hot in traffic, then he trade in his 07 for an 08 ultra and has thesame heat. Ive been riding a t.c 88 for 5 years and no heat problems. Is the heat because it a 96" or because he has no exhaust yet? IS THE HEAT AN ISSUE?

as a first time hd owner had no reference but was advised to buy heat shields great investment for big guys legs being so close.

RE: the engine heat on 08 Street Gide?
This issue has been beat to death, but bottom line is that the 96's have to run leaner to meet EPA requirements. Some are notter than others, and I still have not figured that out, but at 14.7:1 A/F they are lean. Lean = heat.
I had one of the hot ones (07) when it was stock, anything above 70 degrees outside meant that sitting at a light waiting for it to change was misery. Rick, I am glad your new one is cooler than last years! Bottom line is that to keep the EPA happy, lean A/F, catalytic converters, and eventually watercooling are going to be things we have to learn to live with. You can make engine mods, and beat the heat, but the EPA evetually will find a way to monitor that also, with annual exhaust probes and emission checks.

Has anyone ever postedif the Big Dog type chopper bikes have a heat problem. It would seem that you would get hot setting down on the bike the way you do.

I never had an issue with the heat from my 07, but the 04 I recently traded fordoes run cooler. 'Course it's also 50 state emissions illegal.
