RUSH MUFF Turning Color
I have roughly 1,800 miles on my new '08 FLHTCU. I had the dealer install RUSH slip on mufflers, 2" baffle, slash up. I bought the bike on 8/3/07. No mods to the engine were done at their suggestion. They did say that if I went to 2.25 baffles, I would need a SERT when it became available.
While adding some chrome last night, I noticed the right side muffler has turned color, near where the connection to the exhaust pipe is. Right now, it's kind of a "light gold" color, for lack of better words. It doesn't detract greatly from the bike, but I'm just not too happy about it. I love the sound and the look of the RUSH muffs, but if this is what they do, I may be changing them. The left side muffler looks ok at this point.
Should I expect the dealer to help with the cost if I have to replace them? Any idea on what or how I should approach the dealer about this?
Your ideas are appreicated!

Yes, same here. The left side is not getting what the right side is. While your bike is running put your hands by the exhaust and you will see what i mean. Dealer said that because it runs so lean that it was bound to happen. Wish that was said at the parts counter when i purchased them. I am not that picky and the sound is good enough to make me forget about a little yellow. I did think about switching them around so they would match.Hey, as long as not damage is being done i say F.I.

The Rush website, http://www.epiflex.com/ specifically says discoloration is the result of tuning and is not covered under warranty.
I run the Rush 2" mufflers on my '07 RKC and have not had any discoloration anywhere. I've run them with the stock computer for probably a couple thousand miles, but mostly with a PC-III controlling the fuel.

dchoran,
Are those heat shields for the Rush pipes? Just purchased the Rush slip-ons. Really like the idea of shields.

Man, what a great idea! Thanks for sharing. I have slash UP mufflers, so not sure these will work, but I'm going to check for sure!
As for fixn' the fuel problem, I'm about as confused as I can get.
I've talked to plenty of guys, technicians included that say to stay away from a Power Commander. The '08 SERTs aren't out yet, as far as I know. I see a lot here about Thundermax, but again, not sure if it's ok for an '08.
Moe! Larry! CHEESE!!!
