My Road King With 16" Apes

RE: My Road King With 16" Apes
Welcome to the jungle baby!
Your work looks great. The issues with windshield mods for 18" bars are exactly why 16" were the limit for me. I have had to replace them once this spring after being hit by a yahoo looking for a parking space downtown. The right bar was bent back 1/2". To measure, tape over behind the windshield about 1" where the bar of the windshield is. Measure that point back to the limit of the bar. Each side should measure the same, other wise the bars are bent. The HD estimator and the (USAA) insurance estimator couldn't figure this out, but I did and I got the check to prove it!

Looks sweet!
This is my winter project. I have some smaller bars now, but not the 16" like I want. Gonna require cables and such like you did. What kind of bars did you go with? I was thinking of a 1-1/4" bar on my Road king.

also replaced rubber bushings with the HD Touring Polyurethane bushings and replaced the 2-piece clamp with the 1-piece clamp from a sportster.....I've had no problems with vibration at all as some others have mentioned.
