Default Road King steering

Just purchased a new road king peace officer special. Been riding for 38 years. Last 4 motorcycles have been dynas. My question is,"does the steering seem very light to you road king riders"? For the lack of a better description it feels like it has power steering compared to my dyna. (I know it dosen't have power steering!) I checked the tire pressure and it is correct. Any thaoughts.

Normal feeling on a bagger, the design of the neck and rake make it feel lighter.

What you are experiencing is the netural steering on the touring models. This is attributed to the front forks being behind the steering neck instead of in front of it. With this system the front tire does not have that heavy feeling or the tendency to flop to the side during slow manuvering.

Congratulations on the new ride. I have the same thing in an EG Classic. Welcome to the wonderful world of dressers.

Regards,

Bill

OK that answers it. I didn't realize the forks were behind the neck. On a side note I loved my Dynas except for the fact that because of back issues I needed something a bit easier on the spine. My last Dyna had drag bars and forward controls, so I was basically bent like a pretzel when I sat on it. Besides I couldn't pass on the RK, got a great deal and all the guys I ride with are on Road Kings and E Glides so I was kind of the odd man in the bunch, but it was great storing all my stuff in their bags. Once again thanks for the reply and always Ride Straight.......................................... ...............................
