I do not want to run a fairing. I have a rk custom, with 18" apes, and the fairing probably would not even mount. I also want to stay away from any kind of handlebar mounted speakers. I just do not care for the look. I figure if they are in the bags, no on would be the wiser, until they heard the tunes.

Thanks guys for all the great information. I had planned on mounting the speakers with the front of the speaker on the outside of the bags, leaving a large hole. It had not occurred to me to mount them completely in the bags. I like that idea. Just drill several holes in the plastic, so the sound can get out. this might be the way to go. I will need to find some really thin, good sounding speakers. I do not want to loose all of my storage. Hmmmm, thanks for the thoughts, guys. I think I have my winter project figured out, for the most part, LOL.

I saw someone at the shop the other day with 2-wheel tunes installed on her bike. Sounded good, and would work great with apes. just a small amp and 2 small handlebar mounted speakers. I'm definately thinking about one myself.

My buddy's runnin 6x9's in his road king with a amp and also an ipod in the center console. it sounds really good especially with his pioneer 5 ways. it rocks. On my SG Im running Pioneer 6x9 5 ways with a fosgate 400 watt amp. Also runnin2 5 and a 1/4" in the fairing. It sounds great and love it.
Are you getting a lot of vibration with the speakers in the rear bags. I would think those bags have to be vibrating pretty badly? I am thinking about the same set up but was concerned about that much power creating vibs. Thanks........

Papa and Ice: Saw the same set-up on an RK Custom: HD spot light housings mounted backwards on the handlebars with speakers in them instead of lights; smallish amp mounted in left saddlebag using quick disconnects--very neat installation all around. I don't recall what he used for a sound source.
