2008 . . . Can't change handlebars ??!!
Is that right? Due to the electronic throttle controls? That's rough. How many Harley's do we see that have the original bars? With the exception of the Electra Glides (Most I see have stk bars) almost all of em have something different. Is HD going to produce "Their own kit" so we have to use their handlebars? I'm sure the aftermarket will come up with something . . . But wow !!
What are the thoughts there?

There are bars available for non-touring models, the touring models are completely different. The other problem is that you can not extend the wiring as you did with the earlier models due to the resitance loop of the throttle control. I just recently had a tech bulletin brought to me in parts dept stating that at this time there is no way to change the bar on the '08s yet and do not attempt..

DAWG has modified a set of chromewroks bars to fit his 08 UC, I modified a set of Heritage bars to fit my 08 RK It is my understanding that as long as you do not need to increase the length of the wires coming from the electric throttle you are ok. When I first started my install the connector inside the bars( the O8s have two, one inside the bars and one in the headlight area), would not fit in the Heritage bars as the dimple/crease for the wiring was too tight. I used a carbide burring tool with an extension to reach in and increase the clearance. Harley has provided enough extra cable foran additionala 2-3" rise with the original wiring harness. The instrall also required grinding a slot where the cables come out between the handle bar clamps, cutting 1/2" off the right handle bar and grinding or cutting three grooves in the end of the bar.
I would like even higher bars on my RK but will wait untill Harley or the aftermarket comes up with a solution.
