Has anyone installed a tour pak on a EG police
I've been thinking about putting a detachable tour pak (chopped or king, havent decided yet) I've heard because of the police bags i'll have to space the pak up some for the bags to open fully. anyone done this before? am I better off having the dealer install the docking hardware? does the tourpak kit that moves the pak back a couple inches work with the detachable tourpak rack? anyone tell me what I need to do this install(part #'s)? thanks guys/ladies,
mike

Mike,
A buddy of mine put a king tourpak on his police roadking this past summer. You can mount it on the stock bracket or put the removeable tourpak brackets. You will have to space it up a little so the bags clear. Get a piece of Plywood the same size as the bottom of your pak (trace your tourpak and make a template) and use something to space it up enough to give you the clearance. Make some spacers or a plate (he used plywood painted black) to fit under your pak. Not really that difficult. Don't have any part numbers since he just used the stock mounts. You should be fine with the removeable hardware, just put your spacer plate between you tourpak and where the brackets mount to it.
No Worries

Thanks for the reply Mike, thats a two up rack? how much spacing block did you use to clear the lids on the bags? I was going to install the rear aux. running/brake light/license plate kit on my bike #68230-97B for more lights on the back of the bike,I know this kit wont work with a two up rack. I've seen this light kit on bikes with tour paks,I'm guessing one must use the tour pak rack in order to mount both together.I may have to rethink what i'm trying to do here, lol but many thanks for your idea ,I may have to go that way and do something different with the aux lighting,or just use a rack and a bag to carry things when I go on all day rides. to many choices
thanks again for the pic
