ok guys so far you have been absolutely great in the help dept.. lets see if you can figure this out for me.ok i bought a 2 1/4 lower kit for the rear of my bike (07 streetglide) and was wondering if my tire will rub the fender (actual answer,no guesses). and the last ? i am so confused with the exhaust stories floating around at all the dealers, one says i need to do a race tuner,SE air cleaner, and which ever pipes i want cost is $2000.another dealer says aw, you can keep your factory headers and save alot right there, then do a PC and ANBS kit and wola.than another dealer saysthey will do a fuel pak, headers and what ever pipes i want and there own version of the SE air kitall for the super low price of 1700,what ever you can't tell me it cost that much to put exhaust on these new streetglide 96'.it just doen't seem right so i need a very good explination of what i need to do for exhaust(minus muffs i'll pick those out) or i think i just might kill the next dealer that tells me it's going to cost anywhere over1000 to do...thanks for your time and patience. Can't help ya with the lowering kit, but the exhaust I can. Do you just want noise or do you want a little more power? For noise you can get away with just slip on mufflers and nothing else is needed. If you want to change out the air cleaner too then you would need either a $150 download, PCIII, SERT, etc. The download is a waste of $150 IMO, SERT will cost ya $459.95, PCIII will run about $300. If you get a set of Bub Rinehart true duals they come with the mufflers all for $899, add AN Big Sucker for $125 and a PCIII pre-mapped from Fuelmoto for just under $300 and do the work yourself and your into it for under $1500

You are planning on lowering an already lowered bike another 2.25 inches?
While it may not rub unloaded, the first bump in the road may take the rear wire harness out of the fender for you.
The ride quality will suffer as you are going to have to restrict the bottom or full compression of the travel on the rear wheel.
As far as performance mod.
You will need to do something to modify the fuel flow (SE Race Tuner, PC III, Fuel Pak, etc)
For intake you can do an SE Aircleaner or after market.
For exhaust you can do slip ons or a full system.
All of the last three are your choice.
I went with a Stage II Big Bore, Cams, SE A/C, SE Slipons, and a PC III on my 06 and I like it so far.

You can also go with a DFO
http://www.techlusion.com/
instead of the SERT/PCIII. It's cheaper and you can tune it yourself with a screwdriver. Also no dyno needed. Check out the website.

so i can do any slip on with out a air cleaner kit or programmer, cause all i want is pretty much noise i'm really happy with the 96' and all the programmers have me scared anyways so performance is the least of my worries with this new motor,i just want the sound of the harley, any sugestions? besides rhineharts,i have heard from buddys that they are cheap and rattle apart turn colors and other things so anythiung else would be alright.thanks Zach

RE: couple ?'s
I put the Fullsac header kit and Python slip-ons on my 07 SG at about 1000 miles. No other changes. Now have about 9500 miles on it. Runs great and sounds great. The fullsac kit gives you true duals and removes some of the exhaust heat from the right side since thats where about 80% of the exhaust flows in stock form with the cross-over pipe. Do a search on Fullsac and you will see that many of us use it. It's a price performer for about $180. You can get the Pythons for about $260-$280 from Eastern Performace, a sponsor of this forum. You can also have Fullsac modify your stock pipes for more sound for about $200. Just my .02.
