Anyone have any experience with a dealer on warranty issuesafter a SERT or similar product was installed on thier scoot? I just installed the Rinehart TD's and have the Arlen Ness Big Sucker and just recieved the SERT from an HD dealer that was selling on eBay. The SERT package says: " WARRANTY IMPLICATIONS Instllation of this product (and similar products from other manufacturers) may reduce or void your Harely-Davidson vehiclewarranty." I'm just at the 1,000 mile mark and wanted to have these items installed during the 1K service. I'll talk to the deaer prior to having the work done but was just curious as to others experiences with their dealer.

My dealer doesn't have any issues with SERT and warranty, etc.

 

Vic: HD dealers sell and use customer SERT's all the time to change the ECM settings on the customer's bike. Because an owner can change those ECM settings with the customer's laptop/PC using the customer's SERT, the MOCO probably wants an out from its warranty on the engine if the customer screws up the a/f, etc. in the ECM to the point of doing engine damage.

 

Thanks guy's. I'm an OLD biker (over thirty years on Harleys) My last bike was a 98 FLHT ... This whole deal with computer chips on a scoot is all new business to me. I'll go ahead with the upgrades now feeling a bit more comfortable!
